How Solar Water Heating Works

Solar water heating systems use high efficiency solar collectors to absorb the sun's energy and warm a heat transfer fluid within the collector.

The temperature of the fluid within the solar collector is constantly compared, by an electronic controller, with the temperature of the water in a new "twin-coil" solar hot water cylinder (which usually replaces a houes's existing cylinder).

Whenever the collectors are hotter than the cylinder, the controller switches on the system's circulating pump.  A mixture of antifreeze and water is then circulated through the collectors and the cylinder's heat exchanger, heating the cylinder in just the same way as a central heating boiler.

Although wood is the oldest form of heating, modern woodfuel heating systems are highly efficient and can be fully automated.

Wood fuel can take the form of wood pellets, logs or wood chips. It can be used in two ways to heat your home: wood fuelled boilers can provide all space heating and hot water to a house, and wood burning stoves provide occasional heat for one room, and can be linked up to a back boiler to provide heat for hot water and central heating.

When the 17th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations came into force in July 2008, it became mandatory that all new domestic electrical work has to be covered by an RCD. It may be for this reason you are looking to change your fuse board or your existing board may be looking a little dated and you are concerned about how safe it is?

"When we install a fuse board we test all existing circuits to make sure they are safe"

Installing a fuse board is pretty straight forward but the regulations require that the existing circuits are inspected and tested to ensure they are safe, this is the skilful but time consuming part of the job – the part of the job that many electricians tend to neglect.

When we install a fuse board we test all existing circuits to make sure they are safe, we issue an electrical installation certificate and notify Building Control of the work carried out, giving you piece of mind that the work has been carried out correctly!

Supply & installation prices start from £350.00 inc VAT

“Whilst it is relatively easy to make an electrical circuit work – it is far more challenging to make the circuit work safely."  To avoid the dangers that electricity can create to you and others it is essential that electrical work is carried out only by those with the correct knowledge, skill and experience in the type of electrical work to be undertaken.

Electrics are an underestimated danger, how do you know you have an electrical fault? With water you can see a puddle, you can smell gas but you can’t see or smell an electrical fault. The majority of electrical installations are safe but when a fault develops you need to know that you, your family and your home are adequately protected. We can carry out inspection and testing to assess the condition of your electrical installation.

'Whether you intend a full rewire or just plan on changing a socket inspect can competitively quote for all electrical work in your home.'

As members of the NICEIC inspect are assessed on a regular basis to ensure that we are competent and capable of meeting the relevant technical and safety standards and codes of practice to carry out all types of electrical work. Our in-house electricians are highly trained and experienced to carry out work in your home.

Did you know all electrical installation work in a kitchen, bathroom, garden, conservatory or outbuilding must meet the Building Regulation Part P? (What is Part P?) Apart from some types of minor work, all electrical work must either be reported to the local-authority building-control, or be carried out by an electrician who is registered with one of the Government-approved scheme providers.

We are registered to the NICEIC Building Regulations Scheme and are authorised to self-certify our work without hindrance from Local Authority Building Control.  This saves you both time and money when undertaking work that requires notification under the Building Regulations.

All our electrical work is covered by the NICEIC insurance backed warranty.
